01 / THE PROBLEM & FOCUS

Behind the
experience.

Bring scattered lost-and-found reports into a clear journey: report an item, discover a possible match, and track an ownership claim.

UniFind brings student reports, item browsing, notifications, and an administration workspace into one interface. The live showcase runs in the browser with fictional records and local storage. Login and administration are simulated; the repository also contains separate backend source.

PROJECT FOCUS

Student-facing application workflows, browser state, and responsive dashboard interfaces.

Implementation focus

  • Student dashboards and item-reporting interfaces
  • Search, filters, and similarity-matching workflows
  • Browser state and responsive application layouts
THE BOUNDARIES

Working with constraints.

  • The public showcase must be explorable without creating an account.
  • Demonstration data must stay separate from real student information.
  • The static deployment runs in the browser; backend source is a separate part of the repository.
02 / TECHNICAL & DESIGN DECISIONS

The decisions
behind the interface.

01

Keep a complete demo in the browser

A Zustand store and local storage connect reports, saved filters, claims, and notifications in the current browser. Guest access makes the workflow easy to inspect.

02

Use explainable similarity scoring

The source compares category, color, location, and description keywords. It weights these signals and surfaces matching pairs above a defined threshold.

03

Give each task a clear workspace

Dedicated dashboard, item browser, reporting form, item-detail, and claim views separate discovery from the actions that follow.

04 / OUTCOME & STATUS

What came out of it.

An explorable campus recovery workflow with guest access, linked student interfaces, and inspectable state logic.

Report, discover, claim

The demo connects item reporting, filtered browsing, potential matches, and ownership-claim states.

Inspectable state logic

The public store source contains the matching rules, seeded records, saved filters, and local persistence.

Real interface screens

The gallery shows the dashboard, item browser, report form, and item details from the project.

WHAT COMES NEXT

Connect the separate backend with production authentication and shared persistence, then test the recovery workflow with real users.
